JUN CHOI - 7th Album [TIMELESS IN DMZ]

Founder of Piano Byeongchang | Choi Jun

Choi Jun is the founder of the genre known as <Piano Byeongchang>, where he simultaneously sings excerpts from traditional Korean vocal music (Pansori, Danga, Minyo, Jeongga) while playing the piano. He created this genre for the first time in the world in 2010 and has been actively performing as a pianist and composer.

Choi Jun has held a total of 19 solo concerts and released six full-length albums.

The upcoming 7th album, <TIMELESS IN DMZ>, is part of a musical journey series with Choi Jun called 'A Time Travel to the DMZ.' While traveling through Imjingang River, Tongilchon Village, Peace Observatory, Ganghwado Island, and Gyodongdo Island, he captured the beauty of the scenery and spaces into music.

This album reinterprets the songs performed in June 2024 at Modeum Arts Theater, blending Choi Jun's unique sensitivity with 'World Music,' performed alongside a jazz band (bass, guitar, drums) and Western instruments (viola, flute, percussion).

Imjingang River still peacefully flows between the North and South today, and <TIMELESS IN DMZ> embodies the beauty of peace, nature, and the environment. It is a heartfelt song praying for the day when peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula will be realized, and it will resonate as a small echo in the hearts of all.
