Broccoli, you too? - 4th Album [우리는 모두 실패할 것을 알고 있어요]

《We All Know We Will Fail》 is Broccoli, You Too's 4th studio album.

It’s their first full-length album in five years, following the release of their 3rd album 《Snobs》 in 2019.

The arrangements and performances were done by Deokwon on bass and vocals, Jandi on piano and keyboards, and Ryuji on drums and vocals. Donghyuk, who had been playing guitar during their live performances, officially joined as a member.

The album contains 12 tracks with a runtime of about 50 minutes.

The key themes running through the entire album are worn and fading sensations, images of soaring and crashing, and a dizzying feeling that sits somewhere between things that last forever and those that slowly vanish. While the lyrics and music are more metaphorical compared to their recent works, the overall picture they aim to paint feels sharper. However, it’s difficult to explain in a single word exactly what that is.

The opening track, 〈I Don’t Want to Try Too Hard〉, feels like a continuation of their 2021 EP 《It Feels Like I Should Do Something, Anything》. Similarly, the final track, 〈Eternal Love〉, traces a large circle back to their debut album 《Universal Songs》, expanding Broccoli, You Too's musical universe. Even though we all know we will fail, it’s as if we’re still dancing a long dance.

There’s a saying that once a song is released into the world, it’s no longer in the artist’s hands, but that’s not entirely true. As musicians continue to release works and maintain their journey, the footprints they leave behind meet new contexts and are reborn. ‘Songs that can only stay as long as they are sung to themselves’ have been continuously polished and nurtured by Broccoli, You Too over time, and this album proves that they will keep doing so.

Park Sungryong contributed percussion, and vocal directing was handled by Lee Oneul.

The chorus in 〈Wing〉 and 〈Eternal Love〉 features the voices of the audience from the 《Tender Sound Gathering》 concert in May 2024, as well as the staff at Sangsang Madang Chuncheon.

Recording was part of Sangsang Madang Chuncheon’s Recording & Play project and took place at their live studio. Lee Donghee directed the recording and mixing, assisted by Shin Sumin. Some tracks were recorded by Yoon Deokwon at Studio Broccoli. Mastering was done by JFS Mastering’s Seong Jihoon and Ryu Gyeongmin.

The album artwork and logo were created by Kim Gijo, and the design was a collaboration between Kim Gijo and Byun Inhee. Cover photography was done by Nam Junghyo, while the profile photos were taken by Yoo Yeon in collaboration with Hwang Yoonlim and Choi Joonhee. Makeup was done by Yoon Jiyoung. Two music videos were produced, one by Kwon Cheol and another by Jeon Yonghyeon.
