The first volley announcing the journey of South Korea’s inaugural K-City Pop girl group UNICODE is ‘HELLO WORLD: CODE J EP.1’

The five girls, selected through Japan's largest online audition [Project K], approach us under the name UNICODE. UNICODE makes their first mark on the public with ‘HELLO WORLD: CODE J EP.1’ through XX Entertainment.

Proving their full readiness with their debut album, the credentials of the contributors are impressive. The title track ‘돌아봐줄래’ by ‘Jinyoung’, known for producing hit songs for B1A4 and many idols, is arranged in a city pop mood brimming with vinyl vibes to highlight the members’ kitschiness, and the music video production is bolstered by ‘Shindong’s’ Walala Studio, known for working with Red Velvet, Super Junior, and Celeb Five.

The flow of the album’s tracks is also organically arranged to delight K-POP fans’ ears. Starting with an intro that gives a feeling of receiving in-flight instructions, it solidly stamps UNICODE’s world with the impactful title track ‘돌아봐줄래’, followed by ‘Blur (불러)’, ‘스무살의 봄’, and ‘봄 비’ which allows listeners to experience UNICODE’s distinct concept sonically. The album’s outro hints that their journey has just begun, naturally leading to anticipation for their next steps.
