The singer Cho Yong-pil has returned with his album "20."

After revealing the journey towards his 20th album with "Road to 20 – Prelude 1" in 2022 and "Road to 20 – Prelude 2" in 2023, Cho Yong-pil has now unveiled the full picture with the release of "20." In this new work, Cho demonstrates a wide range of genres, from rock and electronica to ballads, all marked by his unique and powerful musical signature, showing "Cho Yong-pil version 2024."

The first track and title song, "그래도 돼" (It's Okay), is a heartfelt anthem of encouragement for everyone in this era. It reassures listeners that it's okay to believe in themselves and that it's fine to be a little late. While the message is warm, the music feels refreshing. With dynamic electric guitar, uplifting vocals, and high-definition sound, the song completes Cho Yong-pil's modern rock style. Lyricist Lim Seo-hyun describes the concept of this song as "halfway," meaning "it’s okay to be a bit late or to occasionally take the wrong path as long as you trust yourself."

"찰나" (Moment) is an exciting pop-rock song featuring an addictive sing-along section. It's about someone who can't control their feelings while driving someone home after falling in love. The electric guitar shines brightly, and the fast-paced drum beat feels exhilarating. "You're sparkling, I'm scattered / It's a fantastic flow!"

"Timing" is an electrifying pop-rock song full of speed and rhythm. The offbeat singing runs rapidly over the booming beat, bouncing like a clear summer shower. It feels as though the song is joyfully shouting, "Timing is everything in love and life!" With its catchy beat, this song is destined to shine at baseball stadiums, concerts, and even in short-form videos.

"세렝게티처럼" (Like the Serengeti) is a track designed to energize large concert venues. With a four-on-the-floor rhythm and exotic melody reminiscent of Northern European folk songs, it creates an atmosphere of a camping festival in a wide-open plain, rather than the difficult climb up Kilimanjaro. The sense of euphoria bursts out of the speakers.

The ballad "왜" (Why) is a sentimental love song that feels like a fleeting autumn night dream, dramatic and wistful. It begins softly with whispered vocals and gentle piano, then escalates with shifts between minor and major keys, as well as transitions between chest and head voice. The climax, with a powerful guitar solo reminiscent of progressive metal and surging strings, is breathtaking, before the song fades away like a ghost.

"Feeling of You" brings back the vibe of a refreshing festival. The chorus, "Now light the fire / Now feel your dream, for you / The feeling of you," is likely to excite dreamers, much like Cho's 1984 hit "Let's Go on a Trip." It's an anthem for those racing toward their dreams, leaving behind their complicated daily lives.

"라" is the hardest electronica track on the album. With a tight build-up, dense bass, and explosive snare sound, it collides joyfully with Cho Yong-pil's robotically processed vocals. His signature husky voice, combined with cutting-edge production, creates an irreplaceable sense of clarity, effortlessly leaping over generational and genre barriers.

The music video for the title track "그래도 돼" was created in collaboration with NewJeans and the popular production team "Dolphin Kidnapper." Director Lee Joo-hyung said, "We wanted to convey that despite walking through deep darkness, there is still a voice and a gaze close by, cheering you on."

Do we need more explanation for the number "20"? "20" is cold. "20" is hot. We all were, or will be, "20." The "20" that sleeps within us awakens with these new songs, coming alive, stirring. The heart of "20" beats once again.
